December 2003

Welcome to Rhiannon Welch and her daughter, Aurelia who have moved in to Radley Terrace.

Due to the popularity and success of the Harvest Supper, the Parish Council has decided that it would be good to have more social (and fund raising) events throughout the year. To this end a Village Entertainment Committee is being formed. If you would like to be on this committee, help occasionally, or have ideas for future events such as a Summer Ball, quiz night, bonfire night, barn dance, etc. please call Marina on 814026 or Julie on 815844.

Church Cleaning
Once again it gives me much pleasure to say a " Big Thank You" to our group of willing church cleaners for a job well done.
Thanks to all from May Robinson.

Poppy Day Appeal
This year a record 173.04 was collected in the village. Many thanks to everyone for their generosity and apologies to those people I missed.
Dora Rylett.

The Southwell Renaissance Singers will be here again for the Carol Service in Halam church on Sunday 14th December at 6pm. Everyone is welcome. Also the Singers will be featured in Carols For Everyone in Southwell Minster on December 13th when the collection will be for the Mirassol Trust, and will be giving their own concert of Carols and light Christmas music " A CHRISTMAS CRACKER " on Monday 22nd December at 8pm. in the Great Hall. Tickets include a glass of wine and nibbles and are available from the Singers or the Minster Shop. Proceeds to the Southwell Live at Home Scheme.

Halam Kids' Club
The Club is looking for relief staff when our full-time workers are unavailable. In particular we need cover on Monday afternoons. The Club provides after school care for children of Halam School. If you would enjoy getting to know local children and have some free time and energy we need your help. In a relaxed atmosphere, with structured activities, 10 -15 children use the Club each session. There are always two members of staff available. It runs from 3pm to 6pm during term time. Should this appeal to you or you need to know more please contact Helen on 814581 or Suzi on 813913.
